Laboratory testing is vital to just about everyone – not just to diagnose disease but to confirm health. The pandemic highlighted just how important laboratory testing is when we onboarded Covid-19 testing in a very short time frame, shorter than ever before. No doubt there is a shortage of medical laboratory scientists in the United States today.  Alverno Labs has been working with colleges and universities for many years now, but with the increase in demand for testing and the exodus of employees from all aspects of employment, it is time we get even more creative.  We have built internal paths with our innovative N.O.W. Careers programs for those with certain science degrees to start their careers at Alverno by offering on the job training as well as classroom and/or virtual supplemental education.  Our focus is to partner with universities in a way where we promote their programs, or by taking over medical laboratory schools that would otherwise close as well as teaming up with higher education to create cost effective ways for students to become medical laboratory scientists.
