Alverno Laboratories
N.O.W. Histology

N.O.W. Histology

Program Description

According to ZipRecruiter, “The job outlook for histotechnicians appears bright. There are more job openings in these roles than there are educated and certified individuals to fill those positions, and as research into cancer and other pathological disorders increases, so does the need for histotechnicians and pathologists to diagnose and detect them in laboratory settings. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, laboratory technologist and technician jobs are expected to increase 13% over the next decade, which could add as many as 42,000 jobs across the US. Other narrower results show an increase of up to 18% for histotechnicians by 2024, which is even more promising”.

The Alverno N.O.W. Histology Program is an ASCP Route 2 on-the-job training format.  This program is a six (6) month, full time, 100% FTE position dedicated to providing the candidate academic and practical experience in the field of Histology. After successful completion of the Alverno N.O.W. Histology Program, the candidate may be eligible to apply for any open histotechnician positions at Central Laboratory in Hammond, IN.  After one year of full time acceptable experience in histology, the histology trainee will be eligible to sit for the ASCP Board of Certification Histotechnician (HT) registry exam.
