Alverno Laboratories' May 2026 Test Bulletin covers several updates for healthcare providers. Urinalysis reporting is shifting to semi-quantitative values (trace, 1+, 2+, etc.) replacing descriptive terms like "small" and "large," and BNP specimens must now be submitted as frozen EDTA plasma aliquots rather than refrigerated. Providers should also note that the Infliximab test code INRA has been discontinued by Quest and replaced with soft code INIBD, while minimum volume requirements for viral load testing (HIV, HCV, HBV, CMV) must be met to avoid delays. A reminder is also included on proper urinalysis tube labeling placement to prevent processing errors.
