Vaginal Panel by PCR Update

Due to a national reagent shortage, Alverno Laboratories will discontinue performing the Vaginal Panel by PCR. In the interim, please order the Vaginitis DNA Probe Panel as a replacement. Also, note that there is a change in collection device between the two tests. Please see page 2 for details.
Reflex Criteria for Urine Culture

Alverno has recently updated its criteria for urine culture reflex testing to include positive Leukoesterase indications and/or positive Nitrite indications with a WBC count >10. Effective August 4, 2020, all urinalysis ordered with a urine culture reflex will do so based upon the new criteria. Please see below for details.

Also, note that there is a change in collection device between the two tests. Please collect samples using the BD Affirm collection kit. Samples sent in the BD Max collection kit for the replacement test will be rejected.
